Who I am…
I am a concerned scientist who is hoping to bring some clarity to the confusing news we see around COVID-19. My expertise is in ‘chemical biology’, which is an emerging discipline that sits at the interface of the chemistry and biology fields. I currently hold a Fellowship at the University of Oxford Department of Pharmacology. I have a master’s degree in medicinal chemistry, a PhD in biochemistry, and 7 years’ post-doctoral research experience in cancer research and antibiotic drug discovery.
The aim of this blog is only to aid understanding of our current situation (to explain the ‘why‘ as I see it), not to provide new practical guidance or tips. My advice is, and will always be, to follow the guidance of experts, the government and the NHS.
All opinions are my own and not my employer’s.
